Deposits in Romanian banks increased by 0,6% in March |

Deposits of non-government resident customers went up 0.6 percent month on month to RON 189,681.7 million in March 2012, said the National Bank of Romania (NBR) in a statement.
RON-denominated household deposits added 0.3 percent to RON 75,166.4 million. At end-March 2012, household deposits in domestic currency jumped 14.5 percent (11.8 percent in real terms) against the same year-ago period.
RON-denominated corporate deposits (non-financial corporations and non-monetary financial institutions) edged up 0.2 percent to RON 52,015.4 million. At end-March 2012, RON-denominated corporate deposits were 16.5 percent (13.8 percent in real terms) higher year on year.
Forex-denominated deposits of resident households and corporates (non-financial corporations and non-monetary financial institutions) increased by 1.2 percent to RON 62,499.9 million when expressed in domestic currency (when expressed in EUR, forex deposits went up 0.5 percent to EUR 14,272.3 million).
In year-on-year comparison, residents’ forex deposits expressed in RON increased by 2.3 percent (when expressed in EUR, residents’ forex deposits dropped 3.9 percent); household forex deposits grew by 6.8 percent when expressed in domestic currency (when expressed in EUR, household forex deposits stood 0.4 percent higher) and forex deposits of corporates (non-financial corporations and non-monetary financial institutions) went down 5.5 percent when expressed in RON (when expressed in EUR, forex deposits of resident corporates shrank 11.2 percent).
