Other 10 schools from the rural areas will benefit of books, as part of the national social responsibility campaign „Right to Read”. This action comes after OTP Bank Romania equipped in September 15 schools from different Romanian counties, said the bank in a press release.
The campaign was launched in 2010 and, until now, had as a result the equipping of 98 schools with over 69.000 books, thus giving back the joy to read to over 17.240 children. The initiative is directly supported by OTP Bank Romania, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport.
OTP Bank supports a cause with a major impact on the development of every child, the access to reading, and continues the campaign by equipping 10 new disadvantaged schools from the following counties: Neamt, Dolj, Hunedoara, Covasna, Satu Mare, Harghita, Bihor, Timis and Mures. All the 10 equipped schools were included in the „Right to Read” program as a result of proposals made by the campaign’s supporters
Through „Right to Read” campaign, OTP Bank donates directly to the disadvantaged schools from the rural areas the book collection for the children in I-VIII grades, and the second phase of the campaign involves collection of books, in all 100 bank units and in Humanitas Libraries, partner in this project. We invite all those who support the campaign to offer the children from the disadvantaged areas the chance to discover the childhood stories.
„We took very seriously the begging of the school year and the children’s need of finding, from the very first day, the essential books to build their future. In less than a month, through the ”Right to Read” campaign, OTP Bank Romania managed to provide the chance for a better future to children from 25 schools, located in different counties of Romania. We thank all of our supporters and we count on them in the future because, by the end of this year, we are planning to give back the chance of reading to the little ones from other disadvantaged schools in the rural areas,” said László Diósi, CEO OTP Bank Romania.
OTP Bank Romania is a subsidiary of OTP Bank, which is the largest independent Central-Eastern-European banking group. OTP Bank provides universal financial services in Hungary, Romania, Montenegro, Croatia, Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine, Slovakia and Serbia, for more than 12 million clients, through almost 1500 branch offices, the ATM network and electronic channels.
