The National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin |

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 concerning the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, on 14 March 2011, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin commemorating the 140th anniversary since the establishment of the State Mint.
The silver coin has the following characteristics:
face value: lei 10;
metal: silver;
fineness: 999‰;
shape: round;
diameter: 37 mm;
weight: 31.103 g;
quality: proof;
edge: milled.
Obverse: a composition suggesting the technological minting process, the coat of arms of Romania, the face value of “10 LEI” and the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc.
Reverse: the depiction of the first headquarters of the State Mint; below, the obverse and the reverses of the first coins struck in this facility; above and below, the anniversary years “1870” and “2010”; on the rim, the circular inscription “MONETARIA STATULUI” and “140 DE ANI DE LA INFIINTARE”.
The silver coin is housed in a transparent plastic case and is accompanied by a leaflet featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French.
The leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of both the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
This numismatic issue includes 1,000 coins.
The selling price of the collector silver coin commemorating the 140th anniversary since the establishment of the State Mint is leu 280.00, excluding VAT.
The silver coins in the numismatic issue commemorating “The 140th anniversary since the establishment of the State Mint” are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
These collector coins will be put into circulation through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
