Thomas Sommerauer appointed as new Head of Group Investor Relations

Thomas Sommerauer (39) has been appointed as new Head of Group Investor Relations at Erste Group Bank AG (‘Erste Group’), effective January 2011. He will succeed Gabriele Werzer who will join the management board of the Austrian savings bank “Kärntner Sparkasse”. Thomas will report directly to Andreas Treichl, CEO of Erste Group.
Thomas joined Erste Group’s investor relations department in 2005. Prior to that, he was based in London for seven years, working in investment banking and consulting. During his time in the UK he worked as an investment analyst covering Central and Eastern Europe and providing capital markets advice to publicly and privately held companies. In the field of consulting, he was responsible for analysing UK/EU public sector IT markets and providing strategic advice to multinational IT and telecom companies.
Thomas holds a master’s degree in international business administration and finance from the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
