The Insurance Supervision Commission (CSA) has recently authorised another four insurance brokers: Decagon, Fanbrok, Mobil and Marosi.
There are currently around 400 firms that operate on the brokerage market, most of which are small. In 2007, insurance brokers derived revenues worth 103 million euros in total, 45% more than in 2006, according to data from the National Union of Insurance Brokerage and Consultancy in Romania (UNSICAR).
Brokers handled 29% of the policies sold in 2007, i.e. 640 million euros in gross underwritten premiums, followed by Marsh, which intermediated policies worth 40 million euros.
