At end-December 2013, non-government loans granted by credit institutions declined by 0.6 percent (down 0.9 percent in real terms) from November 2013 to RON 218,464.9 million, said Romanian National Bank (BNR) in a statement.
RON-denominated loans went down 0.6 percent (down 0.9 percent in real terms), whereas foreign currency-denominated loans fell by 0.6 percent when expressed in RON and by 1.5 percent when expressed in EUR.
At end-December 2013, non-government loans decreased by 3.3 percent (down 4.7 percent in real terms) year on year, on the back of the 0.7 percent increase in RON-denominated loans (down 0.8 percent in real terms) and the 5.7 percent decline in foreign currency-denominated loans expressed in RON (when expressed in EUR, forex loans dropped 6.8 percent).
Government credit stood 3.5 percent higher in December 2013 at RON 80,243.6 million. At end-December 2013, government credit increased by 1.8 percent (0.2 percent in real terms) from the same year-ago period.
