Romanian banks deposits went up 0.3% in September |

Deposits of non-government resident customers went up 0.3 percent month on month to RON 194,230.6 million in September 2012, said the National Bank of Romania in a statement.
RON-denominated household deposits went down RON 35.6 million to RON 74,957.3 million. At end-September 2012, household deposits in domestic currency jumped 9.1 percent (3.5 percent in real terms) against the same year-ago period.
RON-denominated corporate deposits (non-financial corporations and non-monetary financial institutions) declined by 1.3 percent to RON 50,298.9 million. At end-September 2012, RON-denominated corporate deposits decreased by 1.0 percent (down 6.0 percent in real terms) year on year.
Forex-denominated deposits of resident households and corporates (non-financial corporations and non-monetary financial institutions) increased by 1.8 percent to RON 68,974.4 million when expressed in domestic currency (when expressed in EUR, forex deposits edged up 0.1 percent to EUR 15,215.7 million).
In year-on-year comparison, residents’ forex deposits expressed in RON added 12.2 percent (when expressed in EUR, residents’ forex deposits went up 7.7 percent); household forex deposits grew by 11.3 percent when expressed in domestic currency (when expressed in EUR, household forex deposits stood 6.9 percent higher) and forex deposits of corporates (non-financial corporations and non-monetary financial institutions) rose by 13.9 percent when expressed in RON (when expressed in EUR, forex deposits of resident corporates expanded by 9.4 percent).
