Romanian banks loans increased by 1,3% in September

At end-September 2012, non-government loans granted by credit institutions added 1.3 percent (0.1 percent in real terms) from August 2012 to RON 230,783.9 million, said the National Bank of Romania in a statement.

RON-denominated loans increased by 1.4 percent (0.2 percent in real terms), whereas foreign currency-denominated loans rose by 1.2 percent when expressed in RON, but fell by 0.5 percent when expressed in EUR. At end-September 2012, non-government loans climbed by 4.2 percent (down 1.1 percent in real terms) year on year, on the back of the 5.0 percent rise in RON-denominated loans (down 0.3 percent in real terms) and the 3.8 percent advance in foreign currency-denominated loans expressed in RON (when expressed in EUR, forex loans declined 0.4 percent).

Government credit stood 2.3 percent higher in September 2012 at RON 78,351.0 million. At end-September 2012, government credit increased by 20.2 percent (14.1 percent in real terms) from the same year-ago period.
