VISA: tax payments by card at city halls are surging |

The increase in the number of city halls that accept tax payments by card is reflected in the doubling of transactions since the beginning of the year compared to the similar period of 2010, both in terms of volume – over 140,000 transactions, and value – about RON 46 M, said Visa in a press release.
Throughout the entire year 2010, 128,000 payments by card worth RON 38.5 M were registered.
“Card payments throught the Internet registered the most spectacular increase – over 22,000 online transactions, a proof that Romanians appreciate the possibility of paying their taxes online without having to walk to the financial administrations”, stated Catalin Cretu, General Manager Romania, Visa Europe.
The average value of a local tax paid by card has increased slightly to RON 330, according to the information reported by banks in Romania in the first four months of 2011.
